Plastic Man #1
Gail Simone and Adriana Melo launch this six-issue DC Universe mini-series with a cover by Aaron Lopresti that sets a delightfully absurd tone: Plastic Man stretches himself upside-down across the entire top of the image, arms splayed wide, deadpanning "This is NOT my idea of a party!" — and honestly, given the grim alley scene below him, fair enough. A glamorous blonde in a blue dress, a body on the ground, and a couple of shady figures lurking in the background suggest the stretchable hero has landed himself in some genuinely murky company. It's a great blend of crime-noir atmosphere and rubber-limbed comedy that makes this one hard to pass up.
