Plastic Man #3
Part of Gail Simone, Adriana Melo, and Kelly Fitzpatrick's 2018 six-issue DC mini-series, this third chapter — "Under Cover of Darkness" — arrives with a genuinely striking cover by Alex Ross. Ross renders Plastic Man suspended in a swirling crimson void, his body dissolving into serpentine tendrils of stretched red plastic while a giant disembodied hand looms overhead, capturing the eerie, fluid horror that comes with being a shapeshifter who may be losing control of his own form. It's a moody, painterly image that makes a strong case for how compelling — and quietly unsettling — Eel O'Brian's world can be.
