About the series

Tarzan swung from newspaper strips to his own DC series in the 1970s, a 52-issue run that brought Edgar Rice Burroughs’ jungle lord into the superhero age. Joe Kubert anchored the title as both writer and artist, his rugged, expressive linework defining the book’s look, while Curt Swan and José Luis García-López also lent their pencils to the ape-man’s adventures. The series occasionally crossed over with Burroughs’ other creation, John Carter of Mars, linking two pulp titans in a shared universe. It stands as a key moment when a classic literary hero was reimagined for a new generation of comic readers.
