Tarzan #243

DC's Tarzan #243 (November 1975) puts the Lord of the Jungle in immediate, visceral danger — the cover by Joe Kubert shows Tarzan clutching a rope while protecting a dark-haired woman in his arms, the two of them suspended just above a churning mass of open-mouthed sharks lunging upward from the water below. The header teases "What Evil Waits in the Temple of the Virgins?" as part four of "Tarzan and the Castaways" unfolds, and Kubert's bold, muscular linework makes every snapping jaw feel uncomfortably close.
