Lash La Rue Western
Charlton · 1954–1961 · 38 issues
About the series
From 1954 to 1961, Charlton Comics brought the cinematic whip-cracking hero Lash LaRue to the four-color page in a 38-issue series that epitomized the studio's no-frills, high-volume approach to Western adventure. Anchored by the prolific scripting of Joe Gill and the rugged, efficient artwork of Pete Morisi—who also wrote many issues—alongside Charles Nicholas and Stan Campbell, the title delivered straightforward tales of frontier justice and fast-draw action. As one of Charlton’s longest-running Western series, it stands as a durable, workmanlike example of 1950s genre comics, sustained by a reliable creative team that kept the six-guns blazing for seven years.
