Michael Alan Nelson was born on June 6, 1971, in the United States. He is a comic book writer and novelist best known for his creator-owned series *Hexed*, his work on *Supergirl*, and co-writing the *Day Men* series. Over his career, he has written more than thirty graphic novels.

Nelson entered comics through a mix of genre fiction and collaborative projects. He co-wrote *Malignant Man* with film director James Wan, *Insurrection 3.6* with screenwriter Blake Masters, *Protocol Orphans* with actor Peter Facinelli, and *The Last Reign: Kings of War* with director Walt Becker. His *Day Men* series featured art by Brian Stelfreeze, while covers for his work came from artists such as Paul Pope, Sean Phillips, Tim Bradstreet, and John Cassaday. Nelson also worked with rising talents like Emma Rios, Declan Shalvey, and Matteo Scalera early in their careers.

He tapped classic pulp fiction for two series: an adaptation of Robert E. Howard’s *Hawks of Outremer* and a modern take on H.P. Lovecraft’s mythos in *Fall of Cthulhu*. Nelson’s most credited titles include *28 Days Later*, *Supergirl*, *Cosmo Pocket*, *Second Wave: War of the Worlds*, *Dominion*, and *Dingo*. He was active in comics from 2006 to 2015, credited as writer on 78 issues.
