Walter the Wobot
Walter the Wobot is a domesticated robot who serves as Judge Dredd's loyal household servant in the futuristic Mega-City One, debuting in 2000 AD in 1977. He is distinguished by a speech impediment that causes him to replace certain consonants with 'w' sounds.
Few characters in British comics history have shown the staying power of Walter the Wobot, a Bronze Age creation who first rolled onto the pages of 2000 AD #10 back in 1977, conjured up by Gerry Finley-Day and Eric Bradbury. A fixture of IPC's legendary anthology, Walter has shared the pages with some of the most iconic figures in the 2000 AD universe β including Joe Dredd himself, Psi Judge Anderson, and Johnny Alpha β accumulating 125 appearances across nearly five decades and running strong into 2026. Eight of those appearances carry key-issue status, a mark of just how embedded this endearing robot has become in the fabric of Mega-City One's sprawling mythology. If you're building out your Complete Case Files collection or simply want to explore the warmer, stranger corners of 2000 AD's world, Walter is an irresistible piece of the puzzle.
