Prog 54 of 2000 AD hits the stands in March 1978 with a striking Dan Dare cover by Dave Gibbons, dominated by a sleek blue spacecraft — numbered 9 and emblazoned with a winged eagle insignia — hurtling through an orange-tinged alien sky.
