Marrina
Marrina Smallwood is a member of the alien Plodex race who was raised by a Nova Scotian fishing family after her egg washed ashore on Earth. She became a founding member of Canada's government-sponsored superhero team Alpha Flight, later also serving with the Avengers.
Few characters made a splash quite like Marrina, who burst onto the Marvel scene in 1983 with Alpha Flight #1 β John Byrne's landmark debut issue that announced a bold new corner of the Marvel Universe. A Bronze Age original through and through, she's spent over four decades weaving through some of Marvel's most beloved titles, racking up seven key-issue appearances that collectors have long taken notice of. Her adventures have placed her alongside an extraordinary roster β Aurora, Sasquatch, Eugene Judd, Walter Langkowski, and other powerhouses β and her reach extends surprisingly across titles like Rom and G.I. Joe, hinting at a character with more range than casual fans might expect. If you're drawn to the rich, ambitious storytelling of the Bronze Age and the distinctive world Byrne built, Marrina is absolutely worth diving into.
