Rom and Starshine save a children's daycare from young Dire Wraiths. As Rom sends the last Wraith to Limbo, Hybrid sneaks through the rift. The mutant Wraith emerges from a Kentucky river during a local church's baptism service and the minister takes him in. When Rom and Starshine track him to the church, Hybrid immobilizes Rom and strips the Starshine armor off of Brandy as he prepares to marry her. The New Mutants, who are visiting Sam's family, get unceremoniously invited to the wedding. Magik uses the Soulsword to stop Hybrid and Brandy, now human, vaporizes him with Rom's neutralizer.
