Avengers by Jonathan Hickman: The Complete Collection #2
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis second volume of the complete collection of Jonathan Hickman's Avengers run continues his ambitious, high-concept storyline that reshaped the Marvel Universe. It collects issues building toward the cataclysmic events of Infinity, featuring the Illuminati's secret war to save reality and the expansion of the Avengers roster with new members like Manifold, Smasher, and Cannonball. Hickman weaves together cosmic threats, time-travel paradoxes, and the fractured dynamics between Earth's Mightiest Heroes and their most dangerous adversaries.
In "Zen and the Art of Cosmology," Shang-Chi faces off in the high-stakes Summer Solstice Burnout motorcycle race, where the prize money fuels a shadowy network of villains and charitable causes alike. When rival competitors hire Deadpool to sabotage Shang-Chi’s run, the merc with a mouth ends up crashing hard—only to bond with Shang-Chi over a shared love of questionable hot dogs made with mysterious meat. Written by Jonathan Hickman and illustrated by Kody Chamberlain, with letters by Joe Caramagna, this issue blends kinetic action with unexpected camaraderie, all under Leinil Francis Yu’s striking cover.

Shang-Chi has won the last few annual Summer Solstice Burnout motorcycle races against villains trying to raise money for other villains (and the homeless). The other competitors hire Deadpool to make sure Shang-Chi doesn't win this year's race. He doesn't. Deadpool doesn't either. Instead they become friends and chow down on delicious hot dogs made with "mystery meat" (could it be Soylent Green?).
