Archie's Madhouse
Archie · 1959–1969 · 66 issues
About the series
From 1959 to 1969, Archie Comics expanded its line with Archie's Madhouse, a 66-issue anthology that leaned into slapstick, puns, and absurdist humor. While the Riverdale gang—Archie, Jughead, Betty, Veronica, and Reggie—made regular appearances, the series also spotlighted original characters like the hapless Clyde Diddit. Writers George Gladir, Joe Edwards, and Sy Reit, alongside artists Edwards, Bill Kresse, and Bob White, filled each issue with wild one-page gags and short stories, giving the Archie universe a playful, offbeat edge. It stands as a lively showcase of the company's lighter, more experimental side during the Silver Age.
