“Spy Spoof”

In "Spy Spoof," Ruby, Emerald, and Sapphire — three gemstone-powered villains with bodies of unbreakable stone — outwit the Union of Super Heroes at every turn, their diamond-hard forms making them nearly invincible. Carborundum Man, a mysterious figure who defeats the male heroes through clever tactics, concludes the tale by proposing to Sapphire, leaving the future of the trio’s schemes—and his intentions—wide open. The story, illustrated with crisp, energetic art by Bill Kresse, features a cover by Bob White and Dan DeCarlo that captures the playful, over-the-top spirit of the era.

Ruby, Emerald, and Sapphire easily defeat the efforts of the "Union of Super Heroes" to stop their crimes because the villains' bodies are made of solid gemstone, and "diamonds are the hardest substance in the world". Carborundum Man defeats the male villains "with psychology", and ends story by proposing to Sapphire.
