Shaky Kane

Michael Coulthard, who works under the name Shaky Kane, is a British comic artist and writer born in the United Kingdom. He is best known for his psychedelic, pop-art-infused style that blends surreal imagery with a sharp, often satirical edge. Kane entered the comics scene in the early 1990s, contributing to British anthologies like *Crisis Presents* before gaining wider recognition. His signature work includes the creator-owned series *Bulletproof Coffin* and its sequel *Bulletproof Coffin: Disinterred*, both co-created with writer David Hine, as well as *Cap'n Dinosaur* and *Cowboys and Insects*. Kane's art is marked by vivid colors, distorted figures, and a chaotic energy that draws from 1960s underground comix and 1950s B-movies. He has also worked as a colorist and letterer on titles like *Elephantmen*. Later in his career, he continued to produce distinctive covers and short stories, maintaining a cult following. While major industry awards have not been a defining feature of his career, his influence on alternative and underground comics remains notable, particularly for his unapologetically unconventional approach to the medium.
