The cover of this 2010 Image series instantly signals something wonderfully strange: a masked figure in a trench coat — sporting a red alien-antennae hood and a chunky ray gun — stands atop a white arrow surrounded by scattered pop-culture debris, including old comics, a small green alien statuette, and a spilled box of "Flakies" cereal. Shaky Kane's linework gives the whole image a retro pulp energy that feels both nostalgic and genuinely off-kilter. If issue #2's story "A Rat's Cage" matches the cover's deadpan weirdness, this series was clearly carving out its own peculiar corner of the comics world in 2010.
