The Beef #4

The Beef #4 delivers one of 2018's most memorably off-kilter covers, with Shaky Kane's artwork presenting the massive, grotesque figure of the Beef cradling a limp blonde woman — her star-spangled shorts making her instantly recognizable — while speech bubbles crackle with accusation: "You killed the woman I love!" met with "You're dead meat!" The retro "Beef Comics Group" banner and a bold tagline promising "Dairy Monsters & Stupid Creeps!" give the whole thing a gleefully irreverent Silver Age pastiche energy. It's a standout chapter in Image's strangest, most gleefully subversive series of the year.
