Myron Fass
Myron Fass (March 29, 1926 – September 14, 2006) was an American publisher and editor who dominated the newsstand with a staggering output of pulp magazines and comic books from the 1950s through the 1990s. Born in New York City, he operated under numerous company names, most notably M. F. Enterprises and Eerie Publications. At his peak in the 1970s, he was the country’s largest multi-title newsstand magazine publisher, releasing up to fifty titles a month—many single-issue ventures covering whatever he thought would sell, from soft-core pornography and professional wrestling to UFOs, punk rock, horror films, and firearms. In our catalog, he is credited on 48 issues as artist, inker, or writer, with his most-credited titles including *Great Lover Romances*, *Black Diamond Western*, *Tales of Horror*, *Dr. Anthony King, Hollywood Love Doctor*, and *Adventures into Weird Worlds*. Fass’s no-frills approach to publishing—prioritizing volume and trend-chasing over artistic ambition—made him a prolific but often overlooked figure. He worked with a rotating stable of artists and writers, rarely fostering long-term collaborations. His legacy is that of a tireless entrepreneur who kept countless cheap entertainments on drugstore racks for decades. He died in 2006 at age 80.
