# Secret Mysteries #17 This anthology issue contains three stories: "The Deadly Diamond," in which African officers pursue a criminal who has hidden a valuable diamond in a snake that wraps around a woman's neck, only to discover the snake has vanished along with the stone; "Out of This World!," where newspaper editor Dan Dana assigns reporter Dan to expose "Masters," a mysterious mystic claiming to contact the dead, but Dan discovers the man has literally left this world and faded away; and "Sinister Santa Claus," in which a publicity department employee named Marty encounters a violent Santa Claus figure at his apartment building and later realizes the creature was actually a man in costume, though the truth remains unsettling.

Contains 4 stories
The Deadly Diamond
8 pp · Adventure, Jungle

In "The Deadly Diamond," Karl Hoffman flees into the jungle with the stolen Kohler diamond, seeking refuge in Malah's remote village after a deadly confrontation with Alexis Tarkoff. But his sanctuary is shattered when Captain Roger Barrett closes in, turning the dense wilderness into a high-stakes chase.

Keeper of the Castle
6 pp · Fantasy

A Hollywood film crew arrives at Kelm's Keep to shoot a medieval drama, dismissing the castle's keeper's warnings about an ancient curse—but strange occurrences soon plague their production, from mysterious sounds in the night to a poisoning and a dangerous accident. As director Crew struggles to keep the shoot on schedule against mounting supernatural interference, he must confront whether the castle's dark reputation is mere superstition or something far more sinister. Will the curse of Sir Godfrey Kelm claim another victim before the crew can escape?

Out of This World
5 pp · Horror-Suspense

Dan Dana thought his skeptical assignment to expose the mystic Masters was just another story—until he witnessed the man perform feats that seemed to defy explanation, from controlling dice to reading minds with impossible accuracy. As Masters' following grows to near-religious fervor, the charlatan announces he'll leave in two days, and Dana arranges a final confrontation that yields a personal mystery he can't rationalize away. What Dana discovers about the true nature of Masters' power will force him to reconsider everything he believed about contact with the dead.

Sinister Santa Claus
6 pp · Detective-Mystery

When Marty Gale discovers his television-star colleague Teresa Talley murdered in her apartment—apparently by someone in a Santa Claus costume—he becomes the unlikely detective, chasing leads from the victim's secretary Sue Miller to the Mercury Broadcasting Studio's Christmas rehearsal. As Marty narrows in on the killer's identity, he and Sue find themselves trapped in a race against time, with danger lurking behind every studio prop and shadowy corner. This 1955 mystery proves that the holiday season can hide some very sinister secrets.
