An anthology featuring multiple crime and mystery stories. "The Hoax of Death" depicts investigator Tom Watson uncovering a murder plot involving an electrician named Alec who rigged a trapeze wire to electrocute his rival Jim over a woman named Jane; Alec is caught when he electrocutes himself on the wires while fleeing. Another story involves Detective Dennis investigating a mysterious snake-god statue brought from India by a man named Kasari, which turns out to be the murder weapon when a second corpse is discovered in a locked bedroom. "Ray Hale, News Ace" follows the reporter witnessing a highway robbery and pursuing the criminals to stop them from escaping.
