Adventures in Wonderland #4

Oct 1955 · Lev Gleason [1930s-1950s] · 0.10 USD
“His Sleeping Princess”

From the Lev Gleason stable of 1955 comes this cheerful fourth issue, with a cover by Myron Fass that sets the scene beautifully: two young children and a small devil-like creature sail a wooden raft toward a glowing, turreted castle rising from the sea, seagulls wheeling overhead as one child triumphantly raises a sword and shield and calls out "Ahoy, mates! Wonderland ahead!" A treasure chest sits aboard the raft alongside a small stuffed animal, adding to the sense of a grand, whimsical voyage just getting underway. At a dime a copy, this imaginative series brought storybook wonder to young readers with an enthusiasm that still comes through on every page.
