Who is Sir Justin?

A knight of King Arthur's Round Table, Sir Justin was enchanted by Merlin, who gifted him a magical sword and armor and transformed his horse into the winged steed Winged Victory. Frozen in ice for centuries, he emerged effectively unaging into the modern era as the Shining Knight.

Forged in the Golden Age by the legendary duo of Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, Sir Justin made his gleaming debut in Star Spangled Comics #8 in 1942 β€” a knight of a bygone era transplanted into the tumult of World War II-era comics, and one of DC's most distinctive and enduring vintage heroes. His longevity is remarkable: a character born in 1942 who was still turning up in stories as recently as 2021, with six key collector issues marking the high points of a 50-appearance journey through DC history. He's kept extraordinary company across All-Star Squadron, Seven Soldiers of Victory Archives, and Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E., sharing pages with titans like Batman, Green Lantern, Hawkman, and The Flash. If you love the mythic, chivalric spirit that the Golden Age did like no other era, Sir Justin is absolutely worth seeking out.
