Wonderworld Comics
Fox · 1939–1942 · 31 issues
About the series
Published by Fox from 1939 to 1942, Wonderworld Comics ran for 31 issues and served as a launching pad for early superhero and adventure strips. The series is most associated with Will Eisner and Larry Antonette among its writers, with Louis and Arturo Cazeneuve providing much of the artwork. Its rotating cast included Gary Preston, the mystic Yarko, and the costumed vigilante The Flame, alongside oddities like Dr. Fung, K-51, and a comic adaptation of Don Quixote. Though less celebrated than its contemporaries, the title captures the experimental energy of pre-war comics, blending pulp action with the emerging superhero genre.
