M. Icer where Old Uncle Caleb recounts to a boy named Buddy the historical details of pirate weaponry and tactics from the golden age of piracy; and a K-51 spy story in which agents Robinson and others engage in gunfire and pursuit at a drug store phone booth and its surroundings, with one criminal saying another will be "sent up for murder."
Ty Cobb, known as "The Great," stands as one of baseball's most colorful figures, having led the American League in batting for twelve years while earning a reputation as an unmatched baserunner for his daring and precision. This entry celebrates his remarkable all-around game and the legacy he left on the sport.
In "The Dreaded Doxol," a mysterious and menacing villain emerges with a chilling presence, threatening to unravel the fragile peace of a city already on edge. As the hero confronts this new foe, the line between fear and fate begins to blur—only one thing is certain: the Dreaded Doxol is no ordinary threat.
Armstrong the lumberjack answers the boss's urgent summons and receives an important task: find a suitable tree to cut down for a flagpole, and bring it back no matter what it takes. With three men and a tractor in tow, Armstrong sets out on a determined—and comically grueling—search through the wilderness, rejecting tree after tree until he finally finds the perfect specimen and completes the job.
Shorty and Suzy set sail for Guatemala under the guise of a leisurely adventure, but their real mission is to investigate trouble at Mr. de Werth's mine—trouble serious enough that the resourceful pair are sent in as unsuspecting cover. Once aboard ship, the two young investigators discover they're not alone in their interest in the mine, as dangerous forces conspire to keep them from reaching their destination.
Tex Mason works the Bar 6 ranch when he overhears his young friend Bud mention needing money urgently for his father's medical care—a desperation that attracts the attention of the outlaw Rat-Eye and his gang, who attempt to recruit Bud into a stage robbery at Kickin' Horse Pass. When Tex learns of the plot, he races to stop the ambush at the Smoky Hill Stage, confronting the criminals and the tempted young man caught between desperation and crime.
