An interior story titled "Tommy Taylor's Dad Tells of His Travels" by S. M. Iger depicts young Tommy hearing his father recount adventures including research work in Palestine where cave men from the Paleolithic era were discovered, as well as tales of Niagara Falls. Another featured story involves a character named Robinson who confronts a gang leader named Vicky Gordon and a suspect named Bruno Schulz; Robinson gathers evidence about a murder and warns Bruno that he won't live to testify, leading Bruno to stalk Robinson's house at night, where a hidden movie camera in the mailbox records his movements.
The Flame takes on a deadly alliance of underwater saboteurs threatening American ships in the Atlantic—when a mysterious U-boat crew under the command of Gen. Doyoff begins sinking cargo vessels and liners on behalf of the Nazis, our hero must pursue them across treacherous waters and into their island stronghold. With the submarine crews and their ruthless commander armed with a trap designed to exploit the Flame's greatest weakness, he'll need all his wits and his signature abilities to stop them from claiming more lives.
In a 1940 tale from Wonderworld Comics #9, a pair of crooks attempt to exploit the legend of the famed magician Yarko by impersonating him—using deception and illusion to swindle unsuspecting audience members during a performance. As the ruse unfolds, the arrival of two new villains, Slick Snead and Tricks Todd, adds a dangerous twist to the scheme, while Mazie White—introduced in this story—finds herself caught in the web of deceit.
Patty O'Day and her companion Ham stumble upon a hidden enemy scheme: submarines refueling at remote oil-tank ships to continue their raids without returning to port. Captured and locked in one of the vessels, Patty devises a clever escape using her camera and quick thinking to turn the tables on their captors. What unfolds is a tense battle of wits aboard the oil ship that draws the attention of warships hunting the very submarines Patty has exposed.
When a young boy alerts Tex Maxon that road agents are robbing the bank while the town's attention is turned toward the fair, Tex devises a clever plan with the sheriff to catch them off guard. After a wild shootout forces two of the outlaws to flee toward their hideout at Rat River Roost, Tex and the posse give chase in a tense pursuit that culminates in a desperate final confrontation at the gang's cave.
Don Quixote finds himself caught up in chaos at Coney Island when he and his companion encounter what appears to be a monster—leading to a frantic rescue that tests their courage. This two-page adventure shows the classic hero and his faithful sidekick facing down danger in the most unexpected of places.
Mob Buster Robinson takes on a sugar racket orchestrated by the notorious Bruno Schulz, who's hoarding supplies to drive prices sky-high and bleed the community dry. When Robinson discovers that Schulz is also responsible for the murder of gang leader Vicky Gordon, he hatches a clever trap—but Schulz won't go down without a fight, leading to a showdown at the warehouse where the stolen sugar is hidden.
