Quality Comics launched National Comics in 1940, a flagship anthology that ran for 75 issues through the 1940s, showcasing a rotating roster of patriotic and pulp heroes. The series is best remembered as the home of Uncle Sam, the star-spangled spirit of America, alongside a colorful cast including the speedster Quicksilver and the tough-girl reporter Sally O'Neil.
