Her task for Hermes accomplished, Diana returns to find Heracles bearing the weight of Themyscira over the battered body of her mother. After delivering Hippolyte to the surface, Diana returns to help shoulder the burden of the island, but the gods relieve them both of that task. After much recovery and reconciliation, the gods accept Heracles into their number and the Amazons decide to appoint an ambassador to allow for a greater exchange of ideas between Themyscira and the rest of the world. They choose, of course, Diana, who returns to Boston and the Kapatelis' home.
