Tim Truman

Tim Truman was born on February 9, 1956, and has built a career as one of comics' more versatile practitioners — working as writer, artist, colorist, inker, and letterer across nearly 35 years of published work. He is perhaps best recognized for his rugged, Wild West-inflected visual storytelling, a sensibility that runs through much of his most celebrated output.

Truman made his mark in the mid-1980s with Scout, a post-apocalyptic series that showcased both his writing and his gritty linework. Around the same time, his collaboration with writer John Ostrander on Grimjack earned him considerable critical attention within the independent comics scene. He later teamed with novelist Joe R. Lansdale to reinvent the DC Western antihero Jonah Hex, bringing fresh narrative energy to an established character.

His catalog of 193 credited issues — active from 1984 through 2018 — spans a notably wide range of publishers and genres.
