Daniel Warren Johnson
1987–
Daniel Warren Johnson (born March 1987) is an American comic book artist and writer from Chicago, known for his dynamic, empathetic approach to action storytelling. He entered the industry in 2014, working across Image, Marvel, and DC, but his signature style—marked by explosive fight choreography and emotional depth—fully emerged with the Image series *Extremity*, where he began a long collaboration with colorist Mike Spicer. The duo reunited on the acclaimed DC Black Label miniseries *Wonder Woman: Dead Earth* and Marvel’s *Beta Ray Bill: Argent Star*. Johnson’s solo project *Do a Powerbomb* (2022) further showcased his ability to blend brutal combat with heartfelt character work. His run on *Transformers* earned him two Eisner Awards in 2024 for Best Continuing Series and Best Writer/Artist, following an earlier Eisner nomination for Best Limited Series in 2022 and a 2023 win for Best Publication for Teens. He also received the ComicBook.com Golden Issues Award for Best Artist in 2021. Johnson’s work, published in five languages, includes *Murder Falcon*, *The Jurassic League*, and *Alabaster: The Good, the Bad, and the Bird*. He remains active, with over 47 credited issues as artist, writer, inker, and colorist.
