Daniel Warren Johnson and Mike Spicer's post-apocalyptic saga charges forward with this third issue from Skybound/Image. The cover puts a lone figure in a red jacket — gripping a heavy axe, back turned to us — squarely in front of a towering, heavily armored warrior brandishing a blade, while a rank of helmeted soldiers closes in from either side against a blood-red sky. It's a composition that practically hums with tension, and Johnson's raw, kinetic linework makes every piece of battered armor feel earned.
