Daan Jippes, born Daniel Jan Jippes on 14 October 1945 in the Netherlands, is a Dutch cartoonist best known for his extensive work on Disney comics. He began his career in the early 1970s and became a key figure in European Disney publishing. During the 1980s and 1990s, he produced numerous covers for Gladstone Publishing's Disney magazines in the United States. In the following decade, Jippes undertook a major restoration project for Egmont, redrawing classic Junior Woodchucks stories from the 1970s that were originally written by Carl Barks and illustrated by John Carey, Kay Wright, and Tony Strobl. His style is characterized by a clean, expressive line that honors the classic Disney look while bringing his own warmth to the characters. Over his long career, Jippes has been credited as an artist, colorist, inker, letterer, and writer on 149 issues, with his most frequent credits appearing in *Donald Duck*, *Pep*, *Walt Disney's Comics and Stories*, and several Dutch-language collections. He has collaborated with many European and American creators, and his work remains highly regarded among Disney fans for its fidelity to the spirit of Barks and Floyd Gottfredson. Jippes continues to be active in the field, with credits extending into 2026.
