About this Collection

This first volume of the Barks/Rosa Collection collects two classic Uncle Scrooge adventures: 'Land of the Pygmy Indians' and 'War of the Wendigo,' featuring Scrooge McDuck and his nephews Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Donald Duck. Originally published in the 1950s and 1960s, these stories showcase the iconic art and storytelling of Carl Barks, with the collection also highlighting later work by Don Rosa. The volume brings together high-seas treasure hunts and supernatural encounters in the rugged wilderness, capturing the adventurous spirit of Duckburg's most famous miser.

Scrooge buys a large section of land north of Lake Superior with a thousand lakes so that he can get away from Duckburg's crowds and smog and noise, but finds that the "unpopulated" land he has bought is actually the home of the Peeweegahs, tiny Indians who speak in rhythms like those of Longfellow's "Song of Hiawatha." The ducks are captured by the Peeweegahs, and to prove that they mean no harm, Donald must land an enormous sturgeon.
