Firelord
Pyreus Kril was a Xandarian Nova Corps officer who pursued his friend Gabriel Lan across the cosmos after Lan became Galactus's herald. When Pyreus finally confronted Galactus, the world-devourer transformed him into Firelord, the next Herald of Galactus, granting him the Power Cosmic.
Blazing out of the Bronze Age in Thor #225, Firelord is one of Marvel's most visually arresting cosmic figures — a herald-level powerhouse whose fiery presence has lit up the Marvel Universe for over five decades. Created by the legendary team of Gerry Conway and John Buscema, this 1974 debut has proven remarkably enduring, with 94 catalog appearances spanning from Thor to Silver Surfer to the wild alternate-universe carnage of Marvel Zombies 2. Firelord keeps genuinely rarefied company — sharing pages with Thor, Captain America, Steve Rogers, and the Silver Surfer himself — and boasts two collector-significant key issues that any serious Marvel cosmic fan will want on their shelf. If you love the grand, star-spanning side of the Marvel Universe, Firelord is a character whose half-century of adventures absolutely rewards your attention.
