Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Mirage · 1984–1993 · 72 issues
About the series
From 1984 to 1993, Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird’s self-published Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at Mirage Studios redefined indie comics with its gritty, black-and-white blend of martial arts, mutant animals, and dark humor. The series introduced the four brothers—Raphael, Leonardo, Donatello, and Michaelangelo—alongside their mentor Splinter and ally April O’Neil, creating a raw, street-level saga that launched a multimedia empire. With Eastman and Laird as the core creative force, often joined by artist Michael Dooney, this original run remains the foundational, no-holds-barred vision of the Turtles’ world.
