Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #13
This February 1988 Mirage issue presents a striking moonlit cover by Michael Dooney, depicting a sword-wielding woman in flowing red and silver attire taking a defensive stance against a massive tree, while two of the Turtles — Raphael identifiable by his red mask — advance weapons-drawn across the open field behind her. The painterly atmosphere, with its full moon, pine-lined horizon, and scattered debris in the foreground, gives the whole scene an almost fantasy-adventure quality that feels a little different from the Turtles' usual urban stomping grounds. "The People's Choice" promises an intriguing change of scenery, with Dooney handling every aspect of the issue's art and story.
