The Avengers are still trying to make their way to the main government building on the Kree homeworld when they are attacked by the Starforce sent by the Supreme Intelligence. In the midst of the battle, they are confronted by the dual rulers of the Kree Empire. As they parlay with the Kree, Deathbird swoops down and kills Ael-Dann and Dar-Benn. The Supreme Intelligence, who plotted the whole scenario, once again takes over the Kree Empire and orders the Avengers held as spies. He commands the Starforce to fly to the Shi'ar Empire and kill Lilandra.
