The issue was produced during Marvel's 'Brand New Day' initiative, the thrice-monthly publishing experiment following the controversial 'One More Day' soft reboot, in which a rotating 'braintrust' of writers contributed interconnected but self-contained story arcs. Marc Guggenheim wrote the 'Kraven's First Hunt' arc (#565–567) with Phil Jimenez handling both pencils and the cover for all three chapters. Ana Kravinoff as a character was a collaborative creation, credited to Guggenheim, Joe Kelly, Mike McKone, and Phil Jimenez — reflecting the braintrust's shared worldbuilding approach — with her actual first appearance occurring one issue earlier in #565.
