Freak
A desperate drug addict who injected himself with animal stem cells to escape Spider-Man, Freak underwent a horrific transformation into a monstrous creature. He can form a protective cocoon around himself and emerges each time with a new set of grotesque animal-based adaptations.
Born into the Modern Age of Marvel Comics, Freak burst onto the scene in The Amazing Spider-Man #552 in 2008, the creation of writer Bob Gale and artist Phil Jimenez during the celebrated "Brand New Day" era that reinvigorated Spider-Man's world with fresh threats and faces. Across a run stretching all the way to 2025, this unsettling figure has carved out a niche in Spider-Man's rogues' gallery, sharing pages with the likes of Harry Osborn, Lily Hollister, and of course the wall-crawler himself. Freak's appearances span key titles including Chasm: Curse of Kaine, showing a surprising reach beyond the main Spidey book, and while the character's total footprint in the catalog is select rather than sprawling, that only adds to the intrigue — a modern Marvel menace with real staying power worth tracking down.
