Hopey is uptight because Izzy got into an accident and because she hasn't heard from Maggie who is in the island of Chepan. In Rio Frio, Dot tries to get a reluctant Rand Race to agree to an interview but then asks him out to lunch. They then spend the night together which upsets Maggie when she finds out. Dr. Beaky refuses to acquiesce to the Chepan islander's demands for freedom, so they begin to blow up his factories and warehouses one by one. Rand rushes to the island to warn Maggie and the visiting Rena but fails to get there in time before the bomb in their building goes off.
