Invincible #36

Three hulking cyborg figures — each bearing a single red eye and a mismatched patchwork of flesh and metal — close in from above as Invincible stands his ground amid a field of shattered rubble, fists clenched and back turned to the reader. Ryan Ottley's cover composition does a smart job of conveying sheer numerical disadvantage, with crumbling brick walls and industrial pipes framing what looks like a very bad day for our hero. Robert Kirkman, Ottley, and colorist Bill Crabtree were clearly firing on all cylinders with this 2006 Image series entry.
