Invincible #35 brings the heat with a cover that pits a grey-suited, mustachioed hero against a massive, razor-clawed crimson monster with a gaping maw — a collision of raw power rendered with real ferocity by Ryan Ottley. A character portrait strip across the top introduces a diverse cast of familiar and unfamiliar faces, hinting at a story with plenty of moving parts, while a small inset panel of a wide-eyed young man suggests not everyone is as composed as the fighters below. Robert Kirkman, Ottley, and Bill Crabtree were delivering some of the most energetic superhero work in 2006, and this issue wears that confidence proudly with its self-proclaimed tagline: "Probably the best superhero comic book in the universe!
