Invincible #6

The tagline says it all — "Girls, acne, homework, super-villains. When you're a teenager, it helps to be Invincible." Issue #6 finds our blue-clad hero sheltering a friend named William in what looks like a construction site or industrial structure, muttering that they've lost their pursuer — except they clearly haven't, as a menacing robot with a single glowing red eye closes in from the scaffolding behind them. Kirkman and Walker nail the blend of teenage anxiety and superhero peril that made this Image series such a fresh voice in 2003.
