Invincible #10
There's something quietly charming about this cover for Invincible #10 (2004): Mark Grayson in full costume — yellow-and-blue suit, blue-tinted goggles — browsing a comic shop and reading a "Science Dog" comic while the rest of the world carries on around him, blissfully unaware. A TV in the background broadcasts what looks like superhero news footage, posters line the walls, and a fellow shopper flips through another book nearby, making the whole scene feel grounded and lived-in. Ryan Ottley's clean linework and Bill Crabtree's cool teal palette give this slice-of-life moment a relaxed wit that shows Robert Kirkman's series was always as interested in the person behind the mask as the hero wearing it.
