Invincible #122

Few covers capture the absurdity of superhero parenthood quite like this one: a young man, a red-haired woman, and a small child enjoy what appears to be a peaceful alien-world picnic — complete with a basket, plates, and scattered snacks — while an enormous, drooling, red-eyed monster looms directly over them with its jaws wide open. The cover's darkly comedic tagline even winks at the baby's precarious situation, and the lush, otherworldly landscape Ryan Ottley renders around the oblivious family makes the lurking horror all the more delightful. Invincible #122 is a fine reminder of why this series proudly crossed out "superhero" on its own masthead.
