Invincible #121

Few superhero comics commit to consequence the way Invincible does, and this 2015 Image/Skybound issue makes that viscerally clear. Ryan Ottley's cover depicts a battered, bloodied Mark Grayson barely standing as a heavily damaged armored figure supports — or perhaps drags — him, both of them drenched in crimson pooling at their feet. The tagline running along the bottom — "Oh, what are you so worried about? He's called the Immortal… right?" — adds a darkly wry tension that will have you flipping to the first page immediately.
