“Like Chimney Sweepers Come to Dust...”

In "Like Chimney Sweepers Come to Dust...", the G.I. Joe team grapples with loss and rebuilding as they restore the Pit, only to face a deadly ambush during Flagg’s funeral. With Duke now leading the charge and Roadblock at his side, the Joes fend off the new Cobra threat—the Rattler—while personal tragedies unfold, from Snake-Eyes honoring Kwinn in quiet ceremony to the Baroness seeking help from Dr. Hundtkinder. Written by Larry Hama and illustrated by Mike Vosburg, with inks by Jon D'Agostino and colors by George Roussos, this 1984 issue captures the grit and resolve of the team under pressure, all under Klaus Janson’s striking cover.

The Joes begin reconstruction on a better Pit. As they later attend Flagg's funeral, they're attacked by the new experimental Cobra jet, the Rattler, but it's destroyed by Duke (new field commander) and Roadblock. The Baroness is taken to see Dr. Hundtkinder for her severe burns by Bludd. Kwinn is given a private funeral by Snake-Eyes, and we see Dr. Venom's burial in Potter's Field.
