“Silent Interlude”

In "Silent Interlude," the G.I. Joe team grapples with loss and rebuilding as they work to restore the Pit, only to face a sudden assault by Cobra's new Rattler jet during Flagg's funeral—halted by Duke and Roadblock in a tense aerial showdown. The issue quietly explores grief and duty, from Snake-Eyes' private tribute to Kwinn, to the Baroness' grim journey to Dr. Hundtkinder, and the quiet finality of Dr. Venom's burial in Potter's Field. Written by Larry Hama and illustrated by Mike Vosburg, with inks by Jon D'Agostino, colors by George Roussos, and letters by Rick Parker, the cover by Ed Hannigan and Klaus Janson captures the somber weight of the moment.

The Joes begin reconstruction on a better Pit. As they later attend Flagg's funeral, they're attacked by the new experimental Cobra jet, the Rattler, but it's destroyed by Duke (new field commander) and Roadblock. The Baroness is taken to see Dr. Hundtkinder for her severe burns by Bludd. Kwinn is given a private funeral by Snake-Eyes, and we see Dr. Venom's burial in Potter's Field.
