In G.I. Joe #22, the team rebuilds their base with renewed purpose, only to face a sudden attack from Cobra’s new experimental jet, the Rattler—destroyed in a fierce showdown led by Duke, now field commander. As the Joes mourn fallen comrades, including Kwinn and Dr. Venom, personal losses deepen, and the Baroness is taken to Dr. Hundtkinder for treatment. Written by Larry Hama and illustrated by Mike Vosburg with inks by Jon D'Agostino and colors by George Roussos, the issue’s cover by Klaus Janson captures the tension and gravity of the moment.
