☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis volume collects issues #11–20 of IDW's G.I. Joe series, along with the G.I. Joe: Origins #1–4 and the G.I. Joe: Cobra #1–4 miniseries, all written by Chuck Dixon and Larry Hama. It continues the modernized reboot of the classic franchise, following the formation of the Joe team and their escalating conflict with Cobra, including the introduction of key characters like Storm Shadow, Zartan, and the Baroness. The collection also delves into the backstories of Snake-Eyes and the Cobra organization, offering a cohesive narrative that bridges the main series with its spin-offs.
"Last Plane from Rio Lindo" delivers a tense, pulse-pounding chapter in the G.I. Joe saga, written by Larry Hama and illustrated by Mike Vosburg, with strong inks by Jon D'Agostino and colors by Bob Sharen. After the bunker is bombed and submerged—trapping Snake-Eyes, Kwinn, and Dr. Venom inside—Stalker, Breaker, and Gung-Ho scramble to call for extraction amid a hostile takeover of Rio Lindo. The trio recovers a deliberately left briefcase, believing it to be part of the Commander’s plan, only to unknowingly carry false intelligence back to HQ. The issue closes with a haunting, familiar Morse Code tap echoing from the depths of the sunken bunker. Cover by Shawn Lee and Mike Zeck captures the urgency and mystery of the moment.
