G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #2
"G.I. Joe Is Back!" kicks off a high-stakes showdown in 2011 with Larry Hama’s sharp storytelling and S. L. Gallant’s dynamic art, capturing the tension as Cobra Commander moves against the Joes at Broca Beach. Meanwhile, the Dreadnoks’ antics take a bizarre turn when hunger halts their plans—until Baroness’ ill-fated food run leads to a tense capture of Lady Jaye. Rod Whigham’s cover perfectly frames the chaos, and the issue’s escalating stakes are underscored by a chilling twist: Billy’s mind is under Venom’s control, though only Destro knows the truth.

As Cobra Commander is in Broca Beach enacting his plan of killing off the Joes in the Pit III, Zartan meets up with the Dreadnoks at their headquarters in New Jersey, wanting them ready when the next opportunity arrives to gain favor. But the Dreadnoks won't work because they're starved and demand their usual fare of grape soda and doughnuts before they do anything else. Baroness confronts Lady Jaye while on the Dreadnok's food run and is captured by her. Billy's mind has been taken over by Venom's scanner so he can enact his revenge on Cobra; Destro is aware of this, but Mindbender's not.
