G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #165

Apr 2011 · IDW · 3.99 USD
“Shocks and Rockets!!!”

"Shocks and Rockets!!!" delivers a pulse-pounding chapter in IDW’s G.I. Joe saga, where Ace thwarts Dr. Mindbender’s airstrike on the Pit III, setting off a chaotic aerial battle. Amid the explosions, Spirit’s survival from last issue is confirmed as Tunnel Rat and Tripwire scavenge for unexploded ordnance, while Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow battle Dr. Venom’s control over Billy—using a scanner to trap Venom’s digital consciousness in a vision of Kwinn’s capture. Written by Larry Hama and illustrated by S. L. Gallant, with inks by Gary Erskine and colors by J. Brown, this 2011 issue blends high-stakes action with the series’ signature tactical precision. The cover, a dynamic collaboration by Herb Trimpe and Larry Hama, captures the moment’s intensity.

Dr. Mindbender calls for Wild Weasel to do an airstrike on the Pit III, but he's foiled by Ace. Spirit survived his 'sacrifice' vs. the B.A.T. from last issue, as Tunnel Rat and Tripwire search outside the Pit III for any unexploded ordnance during the air battle. Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow confront the Dr. Venom-controlled Billy, and free him from Venom's influence by placing him under the scanner, and trapping Venom's virtual consciousness once again inside via an image of Kwinn taking him captive.
